How did Apple secure this broad smart-phone patent?
As a student of technology, and in particular, electronic, computer and communications technology, I am left scratching my head as to how Apple managed to convince the patent office that this was an original idea. Now, I do admire Apple's look and feel as well as the technology it employs, but wait until you see what the idea is. Get this – it was to have a phone conversation in progress and allow another independent app to run. This has been happening on laptops, minis and regular sized computers for years. With the march toward more power in smaller boxes, why is this a non-obvious advancement of the art that the patent office claims to require to secure a patent? I say, patently ridiculous, overtly obvious and an incompetent move on the part of the patent office. What do you think?
